FERNANDO HUERGO AND THE JAZZ ARGENTINO QUINTET
Fernando Huergo's Jazz Argentino Quintet performs original music based on traditional rhythms from Argentina blending them with jazz harmonies and improvisation.
The first album of the band "Jazz Argentino" and "Live at The Regattabar" were released by the prestigious "Fresh Sound, World Jazz" label.
The latest album "Provinciano" was released in 2008 on Sunnyside Records
The Jazz Argentino Band performed at Boston's Regattabar, at WGBH's "Eric in the evening", at Ryles in Cambridge MA, at the 5TH Edition of "Jazz In the Consulate" Series in the Argentinean Consulate, at Cornelia's Street Cafe at Satalla and at El Taller Latinoamericano, all located in Manhattan.
In addition to Huergo on bass, the Jazz Argentino Band features Yulia Musayelyan on flute, Andrew Rathbun on sax, Mka Pohjola on piano and Franco Pinna on drums.
The Jinga Quintet
This group is the continuation of The Jinga Trio (with Alon Yavnai and Steve Langone) and The Toucan Trio (with Helio Alves and Langone). The Jinga Quintet released their debut album: "A Day Gone By" featuring Avishai E. Cohen, Miguel Zenon, Luis Perdomo, Fernando Huergo and Steve Langone. "The Structure of Survival" The latest cd of the band was released in The Fall of 2006, both by "Fresh Sound, World Jazz".
The Jinga Quintet performs original modern latin jazz and has performed at great east coast venues like Manhattan's Iridium, Small's and Satalla, Boston's Regattabar, Ryles and The Lily Pad, at Musikfest in PA and at The Savannah Jazz Festival '97.
